Sample work

See the format before you speak to me.

Below are demonstration deliverables built to show you exactly what you'd receive — the structure, the level of detail, and the summary that comes with it.

A note on what these are. Every sample on this page was created by Canon Consulting to demonstrate format and quality. They are not client work, and the data in them is illustrative rather than researched. I won't show you real client files, and I won't dress up a demonstration as a case study. When you become a client, your work stays yours and stays private — unless you tell me otherwise in writing.

Sample 01

Competitor research report

Typical scope: 5–8 competitors · Typical price: $75–$150 · Typical turnaround: 3–4 days

Sample project — created by Canon Consulting. Companies and figures below are fictional and used only to show report structure. In real work, every price and rating is verified against its original source.

Findings

Company Services Starting price Rating Key strength
Northside Home Care (fictional) Residential, deep clean, move-out $140 / visit 4.8 (212) Online booking, same-week availability
Bright & Co. (fictional) Residential only $115 / visit 4.6 (89) Lowest price in the set
Meridian Clean (fictional) Residential, commercial, post-construction Quote only 4.9 (341) Commercial contracts, strongest reviews
Willow Domestic (fictional) Residential, laundry add-on $130 / visit 4.4 (56) Recurring plans with locked-in pricing
Harbourview Services (fictional) Commercial only Quote only 4.7 (128) Office and retail niche, no residential competition

Key findings

This section is written by hand on every report, and it's the part clients actually pay for. On a real engagement it would read like this:

  • Two of five publish no pricing at all. Both are the ones chasing commercial contracts. If you publish a starting price, you win the customers who are comparing quickly — and lose the ones who were going to negotiate anyway.
  • The price spread is narrow ($115–$140) but the review counts aren't. Review volume, not price, is what separates the top of this set from the bottom.
  • Only one offers a recurring plan with locked pricing. That's the clearest open gap in the set, and the cheapest one to test.

Full reports also include a Method section (what was searched, when, and what was excluded) and a Sources list with a live link for every figure in the table.

Sample 02

Spreadsheet cleanup — before and after

Typical scope: 500–5,000 rows · Typical price: $50–$100 · Typical turnaround: 1–2 days

Sample project — created by Canon Consulting. A deliberately messy fictional customer list, cleaned to show the process. No real customer data appears anywhere on this site.

The delivery note that comes with it

"Attached is the cleaned file. Summary: removed 47 duplicate records (matched on phone number, not name — two people share a name in your list), standardised 312 phone numbers to E.164 and all dates to YYYY-MM-DD, corrected capitalisation across name and address fields, and trimmed trailing whitespace throughout. Six rows are highlighted in yellow where the source data was ambiguous and I didn't want to guess — those need your call. Your original file is untouched in the folder; this is a copy. Happy to adjust anything."

Note the ambiguous rows are flagged, not fixed. Guessing at data you can't verify is how a cleanup job quietly becomes a data-loss job.

Sample 03

Weekly task tracker

Typical scope: built once, maintained monthly · Often included in a package rather than priced separately

Sample project — created by Canon Consulting. Fictional tasks, shown to demonstrate structure.

Task Priority Due Status Notes
Q3 supplier pricing comparison High 2026-08-12 In progress Waiting on two quotes
CRM duplicate cleanup Medium 2026-08-15 Not started Export scheduled Monday
Board deck — format & charts High 2026-08-09 Ready for review Draft sent for comment
Vendor contact list consolidation Low 2026-08-28 Not started Four source files

The live version adds conditional formatting (overdue rows turn red automatically), a status summary at the top, and dropdown validation so the status column can't drift into six different spellings of "done."

Testimonials

There aren't any on this page yet, and I'd rather leave the space empty than fill it with something invented. As clients agree to be quoted, their words go here — with their name and business attached.

In the meantime, judge the work: the samples above are the same format and standard you'd get, and your first project is deliberately small so the risk sits with me rather than you.

Want to see this done with your data?

Send me a sample file or describe the report you wish you had. I'll tell you what it'd cost and how long it'd take.
